Our coffee isn’t certified fair trade. We often refer to our coffee as “Relationship Coffee.” We work closely with the growers we buy coffee and seek to share that experience with customers. We believe Relationship Coffee leads to a more meaningful impact for farmers and better quality for our customers.
The founder of Rising Star Coffee, Gary "Kim" Jenkins grew up in Rising Star, Texas. After a successful career as a rocket scientist and a move closer to his wife Valerie's family in the Cleveland area, Kim saw an opportunity to combine his passions for coffee and job creation. The company name made sense, both as a throwback to his roots and an homage to his mission to create jobs for Cleveland.
