We are very pleased to be offering this very special coffee from Bekeke Yutute Gosoma. This coffee is from the larger lot from which Bekele used as his entry for Cup Of Excellence Ethiopia where he earned 4th place. Bekele Yutute Gosoma, is a coffee producer from East Sedna Benza in Sedona region, and began his coffee journey in 2009. He's part of the same informal collective of smallholder/exporters as Basha Bekele, Bekele Kechara, Nguisse Nare. He grew up in Dambe (where he has a drying station, at a lower elevation) in a coffee growing family. Before he received his export license (in 2019), Bekele was selling cherry through to the local cooperative of the Sidama Union. He first leased his site in Kokose (where he also has a farm planted with young 74158 variety, managed by his brother in law) in 2019. His nephew, Samuel, manages that drying station—which placed 5th place in the Cup of Excellence in 2021 (Samuel's name is on that lot). The Murago site, which is slightly higher elevation than Kokose, is new for this year. We collaborated with him in 2023 on implementing shade drying at his station in Kokose, and ahead of 2024, focused on cherry selection and sorting, flotation, and implementing shade drying to stability across all of his dry processes (both traditional naturals and anaerobic naturals). He also produced a lactic natural for Crop to Cup. He collects cherry from his farm as well as his registered outgrowers, bringing them to his drying station, floats, sorts for ripeness, and dries them on raised beds under shade for 22-25 days.
