Introducing Juru, a wet processed coffee that comes to us from the Northern Province of the Rulindo District. Juru is made up of around 1300 coffee farmers from the Rulindo District, and I just want to highlight a few specific things One Acre Fund provides for these producers: technical assistance from agronomists, distribution of coffee seedlings either for expansion or replacement of coffee trees, shade tree seedlings, farming materials - i.e. pruning shears, saws, other tools and training sessions. The notes we decided on our cupping table were: shortbread, dried apricot, and black tea. There is a lot of syrupy sweetness balanced with tannins that you would find in a dry red wine or a black tea. This was actually a pretty easy coffee for us to come together on....most everyone found notes related to the label notes.
