Our Tumbaga Sugarcane Decaf is so much more than what you’d expect from a decaf coffee. It is complex and flavorful and is teeming with notes of Brown Sugar, Caramel, and Chocolate. This coffee is naturally decaffeinated via the Sugarcane process. This process utilizes naturally occurring ethyl acetate to achieve the decaffeinated result. The ethyl acetate used in this process is derived from molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. The process is straightforward - the beans are moistened and circulated with water and ethyl acetate that binds to and extracts the caffeine from the coffee all while leaving behind the rich flavor compounds that we want. The beans are then steamed, removing any remnants of ethyl acetate left behind. Once the green coffee is received at our roastery, we take great care in making sure the final result is a coffee that we are proud to roast, brew, and serve. After multiple sample roasts, cuppings, tastings, and various quality checks, we send our coffee off to our shops and straight to your front door if you purchase online. The images above show some details of those tasting that we have as a team. We were blown away by this coffee, and hope you are too.
